  27/09 – bLAIR
Greetings and welcome back to “Taffia Don”, apologies for the absence, however, I just never get round to posting normally; as you can tell this is the exception.

I have just heard on the news clip on the 10 o’clock news (bbc one) of Blair’s speech to the labour party conference, the much applauded speech by all sections of the party, media and public at large. However, this particular sound bite has incensed me, reproduced below.

This terrorism isn't our fault. We didn't cause it. It's not the consequence of foreign policy. It's an attack on our way of life.
- Tony Blair

Let us start off with Afghanistan, recent history of that country will suffice for the interim. After the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, the US (definitely, UK possibly) sponsored paramilitary organisations in order to prevent the domino effect from taking hold, after the Soviets withdrew, the instability created led to another organisation taking hold of power, aka the Taliban.

And as for Iraq, just watch this video clip, http://www.ericblumrich.com/thanks.html I think that it says it all,

The problems of the Middle East are our fault; they are all resulting from the fact that we, (Britain and the US) supported extremist groups like the Mujihadin or Ba’athist party when it suited us, i.e. to oppose the Soviet Union, and to permit oil companies to exploit Iraq’s natural resources, respectively.

We supported Iraq during the Iran – Iraq, we supplied them with NBC armaments and in 2003 we decided that Iraq’s possession of NBC agents (unfounded – they had used them all) was enough for regime change, and no doubt if / when the Iraqi government becomes strong enough to flex its’ muscles and join OPEC then I wonder what will be the response from the West*.

This pattern is common throughout the whole of the Middle East, Even in Israel. Israel was created on top of Palestine the Jewish were awarded two-thirds of the territory even though they had only one-third of the population. And this is ignoring the ethics of superseding one nation with another.

Every predominant conflict in the Middle East, is as the result of imperial and overbearing influence, that Britain did yield and America is currently yielding.

For example Iran, America is adamant that Iran should not get nuclear weaponry capability, even though the American constitution would forbid them preventing an American citizen gaining a nuclear capability.

* for the record I hate terms like ‘The West’, ‘Muslim Countries’ etc… they imply that Samuel Huntington’s ‘Clash of Civilizations’ thesis accurately reflects the current state of affairs, which I abstractly reject.
